Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Logistics & Materials Planner to join a well-established, progressive manufacturer based in Caerphilly, South Wales. The company have a growing product base which is supplied to various companies throughout the UK. The role is a days’ based position working Monday-Friday office hours.
The Role
The Logistics & Materials Planner will strive to ensure smooth running of manufacturing operations, using supplier online portals to book freight and track deliveries in an efficient manner. The role will involve planning, purchasing and control of materials.
Duties will include:
- Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries
- Updating reports / spreadsheets that document planning activities
- Generate and communicate supplier material delivery schedules and forecasts to ensure they reflect requirements and meet demands
- Ensuring appropriate levels of stock for manufacturing activities
- Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production
- Identifying potential supply risks
- Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time
- Responsible for booking in deliveries on behalf of customers
- Use supplier online portals to book freight/consignments and track deliveries
- Liaise with production staff to ensure goods are despatched in a timely manner
- Negotiate with Hauliers/Couriers to obtain best possible costs for shipping
- Role also involves some purchase order entries
The Candidate
- Previous experience within freight forwarding preferred (both pallets and parcels)
- Strong understanding of multi-modal transport (Air, Road, Sea)
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Ability to multi-task with strong organisational skills
- Able to work under pressure and sometimes without supervision
- A positive and energetic approach to work
